Hi, my name is Andrea McCurdy and I am the 4 Year Old Teacher of the Banksia Group. I have a Graduate Diploma of Early Childhood Education and joined the Rangeview Pre-School team in 2015. The Rangeview Pre-School community, families and staff are wonderful and I feel very privileged to work in such a wonderful, supportive environment.
It is a joy to come to work each day and teach the children through play based experiences. My passion is to provide interesting, open ended experiences for children to investigate and explore. I believe in providing a safe, secure, inclusive environment that fosters happiness, friendship, independence and confidence.
A very special part of teaching the 4 Year Old Group is the Bush Kinder Program. Our Bush Kinder Program has been running since 2016 in conjunction with the Whitehorse City Council. Each session has a topic such as “Lifecycles”, “Birds”, “Wildflowers” and is guided by an Environmental Education Officer. The children absolutely love learning and playing outdoors in nature, climbing trees, building cubbies and nests, jumping in puddles and just “being”.
Recently I have been lucky enough to complete training with the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation. Cooking has always been a regular part of our 4 Year Old Program and we look forward to further linking our learning about growing vegetables to our cooking.
